「布団の中から出たくない」
まず、スタートからびっくり。ルーツレゲエをパンクバンドがやっているノリの曲調だからです。古くはThe Clashや日本ならThe Modsが得意としたカッティングの効いたギターに心地よいレゲエリズムとうスタイルを2010年代にぶつけてくる根性に面食らい、おぉ…となっていると歌がスタートしました。これまた、歌詞の内容も良い意味で最高にバカバカしいです。冬の寒い時期に布団から出たくないということを淡々と歌うだけ、共感ですらない日本人なら冬に一度は味わう普遍をこれまた、やや平坦に歌うだけなのです。かと思えば寒さを強調したいパートではラウドにグロウルをかまして、一転攻勢しまた、レゲエリズムパートに戻るという悪ふざけなのか確信なのか困惑するような曲でした。ただ、よくもまあ4分以上曲を持たせたなぁ…という構成力には敬服致します。
「島国DNA」
最初からこの曲に関する答えというより、シンプルにそれっぽい定義づけをしてしまい申し訳ないのですが、この曲は打首獄門同好会流「おさかな天国」です。正統派メタルのリフや展開(とは言っても派手なリフがあるわけではなく今時あまり聞かないようなそれっぽいヘヴィメタル進行)にひたすら日本人がよく食べる魚を叫んでいくだけがこの曲の信条だからです。さらにサビ部分で島国日本。海洋国家日本に対する憧憬(ここは松任谷由実や谷村新司あたりが歌詞に使う日本的自然美の表現から滲み出る健全な愛国心の発露にも繋がるのではないかと思います)を歌うという、おさかな天国ならぬお魚讃歌。海讃歌。のようなシンプルだがタフな意味を持つ曲だと感じました。
「日本の米は世界一」
90年代以降のバンド音楽でラウドな部分やスピーディーな部分(ニューメタル、オルタナティブメタル、メロコア)を彼ら流に換骨奪胎し、音圧が歌を邪魔しないように細心の注意を払って作り、歌われた曲だと思います。歌詞の内容はSEX MACHINE GUNSの「みかんのうた」をオマージュの念頭に置いたであろう、お米讃歌。特に深いことは言っておらず、ひたすら日本の米は素晴らしい！という意味合いのことしか脳内にはイメージが残りません。ベースやドラムのリズムが気持ちよく動いて、リズミカルな印象も残し、サビのシンガロング部分は非常にポップなのでライブで盛り上がる代表曲になるのも納得の出来です。
